MET in HD 2020-2021 Season

The Metropolitan Opera Company has posted the following:

“Based on current information regarding the ongoing health crisis, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the first few months of the 2020–21 season. We now expect to re-open our doors and welcome audiences back to the Met on December 31, 2020…….”

We will continue to monitor the situation and
are hoping to resume presenting our MET in HD series in January.

Until then, why not take advantage of the enormous and unprecedented offerings being made available online by opera companies around the world?

The Met is posting a different opera each evening and keeping it available for almost 24 hours.  Most of these operas were initially shown in theaters as HD broadcasts but the Met is also digging into its archives to pull up Live at Lincoln Center broadcasts first shown over commercial television networks. These are available HERE.

Additionally, about every major opera company and every major orchestra is offering free online streaming of their past productions.

Other companies streaming operas include

Opernhaus Zürich

Royal Opera House Covent Garden

Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich)

Staatsoper Berlin

Opera National de Paris
